If you are looking for a fun new sweet snack mix, you are in the right place. The Crockpot Christmas Chex mix is sure to please with how easy it is to make and how delicious it tastes!

While my family loves a good Chex mix any time of the year, we tend to make them the most around the holidays. It is fun to have bowls of something snacky sitting around while you are waiting for the big meal.

We always had classic oven baked Chex mix growing up, and it is still a favorite. Then we learned you can make Chex mix in a Crockpot, and that is a fun option as well.

Sometimes, the oven is full. Or if it is hot out, it is nice not to have to turn it on.

This recipe uses a lot of the Chex mix classics. Of course, it has cereal, pretzels, and peanuts.

Instead of using savory seasonings, it gets coated in butter, brown sugar, maple syrup, and vanilla. Then, it cooks in the slow cooker until everything is coated and set.

Toss on some fun candies at the end to take it to the next level and voila! A fun Christmas Chex mix is born.

Serve it at parties or holiday gatherings. Or bag it up and include it with treat trays and send it home with people.

If you love sweet snack mix recipes, this is just the tip of the iceberg. At Christmas time, we also love making Christmas white trash and caramel Chex mix is another great crunchy option.

Maple Cinnamon Chex Mix in the Crockpot

Author: Carlee
Servings: 12 Servings (about 12 cups)
This fun sweet Chex mix is flavored with maple, cinnamon, and brown sugar. It cooks in the Crockpot, so you don't have to give up the oven space. You can use red and green M&Ms like we did for Christmas, or use colors to match any occasion.
Prep: 5 minutes
Cook: 3 hours
Total: 3 hours 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Cheerios
  • 4 cups Chex cereal
  • 2 cups salted cocktail peanuts
  • 2 cups mini pretzels twists
  • ½ cup butter
  • ½ cup light brown sugar packed
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup M&Ms
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Spray your slow cooker with non-stick spray.
  • Put the 2 cups Cheerios, 4 cups Chex cereal, 2 cups salted cocktail peanuts, and 2 cups mini pretzels twists in the Crockpot.
  • Melt the ½ cup butter in a small bowl. Stir in the ½ cup light brown sugar, ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon, ¼ cup maple syrup, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
  • Pour the butter mixture into the slow cooker and gently toss to coat.
  • Place your lid on the slow cooker but at a slight angle so it is not completely closed. (Alternatively put a paper towel under the lid to help absorb any excess liquid.)
  • Cook on low for 2-3 hours stirring every 30 minutes or so to make sure it does not stick.
  • Pour the Chex mix onto a piece of wax paper or parchment paper. Sprinkle with 1 cup M&Ms and 1 cup white chocolate chips.
  • Cool completely before transferring to a storage container. This Chex mix can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.

Notes

Rice Chex or Corn Chex are perfect for this mix. You can also use one of the flavored varieties, like cinnamon, if you would like. Regular or Honey Nut Cheerios also work. Feel free to use your favorite mix of cereals and nuts.
Change up the candies to match the occasion.
