We have made several fun flavor twists based on the original. Brownie batter puppy chow is a popular option and so is s’mores puppy chow.

I though it would be fun to do a version with warm baking spices for fall. Instead of starting from scratch, a jar of cookie butter seemed like a good place to get those flavors.
The speculoos cookies the cookie butter is made from have cinnamon, nutmeg, mace, clove, anise seed, ginger, white pepper, and cardamom baked inside. So the cookie butter gives a nice depth of flavor without having to go through the spice cabinet.
Storage
Snack mixes like this store best at room temperature. Make sure it is completely set before you transfer it to an airtight container for storage.
In a cool dry place, puppy chow should store for at least a week. Prolonged exposure to hear and humidity can make it get a little soft, but it will still taste good.

Cookie Butter Puppy Chow

- 1 cup cookie butter
- 7 cups rice Chex
- 2 cups powdered sugar
Instructions
