Tapioca orange fluff features a fabulous mix of mandarin oranges, jello, pudding and whipped topping. It has the texture of a creamy cloud with just the right amount of citrus and vanilla.

If you are looking for a fun no cook dessert, you are in the right place. This orange fluff is super simple to put together and tastes great.

Make some for picnics and potlucks. It would also be a great sweet treat after a summer BBQ.

It is refreshing and perfect for hot weather, but it is great any time of year. Make a batch to see for yourself!

About the Recipe

Don’t tell the guys at work that I told you this, but we have a secret recipe circle going. Sometimes at lunch we talk about our favorite recipes, or think of new things to try.

That is where I learned about sausage gravy breakfast casserole. That became one of our favorites instantly, and now thousands of people have made it.

It was also the inspiration for making homemade turtles and buckeyes with rice krispies. The recipes run the gamut and most are steeped in childhood memories.

I am still trying to get a few recipes to share with you. I keep hearing about pressure cooked pork chops in a homemade bbq sauce that would make a puppy pull a freight train.

If I ever get my hands on that recipe, you know I am going to make it and share it. Maybe persistence will pay off!

Anyway, a new member has been trying to join the group. He was told he needed to contribute a recipe as his initiation.

He was talking about some of his mom’s recipes and orange fluff came up. I had to know more.

As you know, us Midwesterners love a good salad that isn’t really a salad. When he sent the recipe over, I knew I had to give it a try.

It is a mix of cook and serve pudding, tapioca, orange jello, Cool Whip, and mandarin oranges. It is hard to go wrong with that mixture.

If you like Jello salads or any kind of fluff, you have to give this one a go. LD definite gave it his stamp of approval.

Tips and Tricks

Don’t forget to drain the oranges. If you leave too much liquid in them, the fluff will be runny.

Feel free to swap out the Jell-O flavor and fruit. Try it with cherry Jell-O and a can of cherry pie filling.

Try adding more fruit. If you like more fruit in your fluff, chopped bananas, or drained crushed pineapple would be delicious.

How To Store

You can store fluff salads in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. Or just cover your mixing bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate.

Spoon dipping into a small bowl of orange fluff salad with tapioca and cool whip.

I don’t recommend freezing fluff salads as the texture as it defrosts. Though, if you need to freeze some, try eating it from frozen.

When serving, fluff shouldn’t stay at room temperature for over 2 hours because of the milk.
