It is time to make some chocolate chip cookies in a jar. This homemade mix is perfect for keeping in the pantry or for giving as gifts. The best part is that you can make them in bulk with almost no extra effort.

I couldn’t do a collection of in a jar recipes without doing chocolate chip cookies. They are the queen of all cookies and everyone loves them.
So, it makes sense to make them as gifts. It is like giving an excuse to make freshly baked cookies and everyone loves that!
Beside, I love edible gifts because you don’t have to find a place to display them and you don’t have to dust them later! When the gift is a homemade chocolate chip cookie mix, you know it won’t sit around long anyway.
The actual cookie dough simple to make. You use melted butter so there is no waiting for it to soften.
Plus, you can use just a mixing bowl and spatula to stir it together. The resulting cookies have crisp edges and a lovely chew center. They are so good!

How long can you keep cookies in a jar?
If the ingredients you used to assemble your jars were fresh (nothing set to expire soon) and your jar is sealed tightly, they should last for 6 months in your pantry. You can freeze them for up to a year. But with chocolate chip cookies that taste this good, I don’t think you’ll have them around that long!

Carlee’s Tips and Tricks
- The jars will be full. You will have to pack the ingredients down a bit to fit everything in. I like to press the chocolate chips a bit and then the brown sugar to pack it down. That should give you plenty of room.
- If you don’t have a canning funnel, use a paper plate or piece of parchment paper rolled into a funnel.
- We really like milk chocolate chips in chocolate chip cookies, but you can use your favorite kind.
I like making edible gifts like this for neighbors, friends, and teachers. It would also make a great hostess gift for holiday parties.
It is perfect as is or could be nestled in a bowl with a cute spatula and oven mitts for an extra nice gift. I don’t know anyone who would be mad about being gifted cookies.
Don’t forget to make an extra jar or two for your pantry. Future you deserves the gift of cookies too!
