Garlic Soy Pork Chops

Garlic soy pork chops have big savory flavors like soy sauce and garlic with just enough honey to balance it all out. The marinated pork chops cook quickly in skillet for a simple weeknight dinner.

These Asian inspired pork chops soak for several hours in a flavorful marinade. That helps to keep them nice and tender while letting the flavors penetrate the meat.

We have really been loving honey garlic type recipes lately. Honey sesame chicken has always been a favorite around here.

Baked honey garlic chicken recently made an appearance on the site. And sticky roasted honey garlic pork bites were another instant hit.

There is just something about the mix of sweet and savory in a sticky sauce that makes our taste buds happy.

This recipe leans a little harder on the savory, but still has enough honey to help balance it all out.

Easy Adaptations

Of course you could use chicken breasts instead of pork chops. This marinade also works well with beef.

You can use bone in pork chops as well. The boneless pork loin chops just cook more quickly.

Just adjust the baking time according to the piece of meat you use. Thicker cuts will take longer and chicken should be cooked to 165F.

If you want, you can even cook the pork chops on a grill instead of a skillet. They are great both ways!

For a little added heat, add some crushed red pepper flakes. They are a great way to add a little spice.

What to Serve With Your Pork Chops

Roasted green beans are a great vegetable option. Or make some garlic soy green beans in the Instant Pot for another simple green veggie.

Another great option would be a napa salad. You can either serve it on the side or slice the pork chops and serve them on top.

If you are making your chicken in the fall, air fryer butternut squash would be a fabulous option. Or make some ramen coleslaw or napa salad if you want a cold refreshing side dish.

Ingredients

  • 4 Pork Chops
  • ½ cup Soy Sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons minced garlic
  • 1 Tablespoon ground ginger
  • 1 Tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 Tablespoon honey
  • 1 Tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 Tablespoon ground black pepper
  • chopped green onions optional
  • sesame seeds optional

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, olive oil, garlic, ginger, and black pepper. Whisk the mixture until it is thoroughly combined.
½ cup Soy Sauce, 2 Tablespoons minced garlic, 1 Tablespoon ground ginger, 1 Tablespoon sesame oil, 1 Tablespoon honey, 1 Tablespoon ground black pepper, 1 Tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Place the pork chops inside the bowl one at a time, ensuring that they are totally submerged, or close to it. (You can marinate them in a Ziploc bag if you prefer.)
    4 Pork Chops
  • Cover and place the bowl in the fridge for at least 4 hours, but up to 3 days.
  • In a pan set to medium-high heat, sear the pork chops for 3-4 minutes per side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 145℉.
  • Remove from the heat and let rest for 5-10 minutes.
  • If desired, sprinkle with chopped green onions and sesame seeds to garnish.

Notes

  • This recipe works just as well with bone in pork chops, chicken, and even beef.
  • Letting the meat marinade overnight is a great way to have a jumpstart on dinner for tomorrow. This will give the chops even more time to soak up all that wonderful flavor. You can leave them to marinate for up to 3 days in the fridge.
  • Once cooked, store in an airtight container, in the fridge, for up to 5 days. Store in an airtight container, in the freezer, for up to 3 months.
  • Do not overcook your pork chops. The key to tender pork chops is checking the temperature and removing them from the heat as soon as they are done.
  • If you like your pork chops sweeter, double the honey or add brown sugar in place of the honey.
  • For spicy pork chops, add a teaspoon or sriracha sauce or a pinch of crushed red pepper.
