Garlic soy pork chops have big savory flavors like soy sauce and garlic with just enough honey to balance it all out. The marinated pork chops cook quickly in skillet for a simple weeknight dinner.
In a mixing bowl, combine the soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, olive oil, garlic, ginger, and black pepper. Whisk the mixture until it is thoroughly combined.
Place the pork chops inside the bowl one at a time, ensuring that they are totally submerged, or close to it. (You can marinate them in a Ziploc bag if you prefer.)
Cover and place the bowl in the fridge for at least 4 hours, but up to 3 days.
In a pan set to medium-high heat, sear the pork chops for 3-4 minutes per side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 145℉.
Remove from the heat and let rest for 5-10 minutes.
If desired, sprinkle with chopped green onions and sesame seeds to garnish.
Notes
This recipe works just as well with bone in pork chops, chicken, and even beef.
Letting the meat marinade overnight is a great way to have a jumpstart on dinner for tomorrow. This will give the chops even more time to soak up all that wonderful flavor. You can leave them to marinate for up to 3 days in the fridge.
Once cooked, store in an airtight container, in the fridge, for up to 5 days. Store in an airtight container, in the freezer, for up to 3 months.
Do not overcook your pork chops. The key to tender pork chops is checking the temperature and removing them from the heat as soon as they are done.
If you like your pork chops sweeter, double the honey or add brown sugar in place of the honey.
For spicy pork chops, add a teaspoon or sriracha sauce or a pinch of crushed red pepper.
