There are so many people we’d love to show our appreciation for this time of year.  If you think about it, there are a ton of folks that make an impact in our lives.

Some are big some are small, but even seeing a friendly smiling face can make a difference in your day.

If we lived in a world where time and money were unlimited, it would be nice to give everyone a nice gift to show them how much they mean to us. However, the world we live in has a finite amount of time and keeping a budget is always good.

Plus there is the basic problem of where to put all of the things you get. If you are like me, you already have more stuff than you need and the storage space always feels limited.

So I like to give edible gifts.  They are a great way to solve the problem of storage, you just eat it instead! Plus there can be very budget conscious and are always well received.

I know I always love getting gifts like this, a mix in a jar. It makes whipping up a treat fun and easy.  Plus it sometimes gives us an excuse to make something we otherwise wouldn’t have thought to make.

These cookies are a super fun way for the recipient to bake up some cookies in no time.  All they have to do is add butter, an egg and vanilla.

The cookies can be in the oven in just a matter of minutes. Plus they don’t have to measure anything if they come from the same school of vanilla addition as me (the add until it looks like it’s right school!)

Leave a few on a plate for Santa and everyone is sure to be happy!

Everyone in the comments loved the idea but apparently no one tested the recipe. Flat as a pancake LOL 😂

    1. That shouldn’t have been the case. Was your baking powder old or maybe baking soda was accidentally used instead?

Would not fit in a jar… double checked my ingredients and still no go. Decided to mix one up with my daughter and put sprinkles in a bag to go with mix.
Added 2 sticks of butter, 1 egg and 1 tsp of vanilla. It did NOT come together like cookie dough. Its more like pea sized crumbs. I LOVE baking (and have been for decades) and have no idea what I did wrong.

    1. I am sorry that happened. It sounds like maybe the flour was packed a little bit tight when it was measured. I like to fluff it up a bit before I scoop to make sure it’s not packed in too tight.

    Where is the recipe card/tag

I tried everyway possible to print the free printable tags, but they do not print?

  5. I’m confused, I want to make half the recipe, but when I change it, the butter and egg ratio stays the same, which seems a bit off.

    1. I reorganized the recipe card, so the baking ingredients will scale with the mix ingredients. Hopefully that helps. The hard part about halving the recipe is then you’ll need to use half an egg. Otherwise, it should work great.

  6. What would the shelf life be on these once they are sealed in the jar?

  7. Can this recipe be used for cutout cookies?

    1. I haven’t tried it. It would probably be a bit soft, but a little extra flour on the counter should make it possible.

  8. hello, how many cookies do you get out of this batch roughly and how do you print the label, everytime I try it keeps telling me it’s unavailable.

    1. It makes about 24 cookies using a small cookie scoop. Hmm, the printable tag opens for me. I’ll have to try on a device I’m not logged into and see if I can figure out what is happening. Thanks for letting me know.
