Homemade Pumpkin Pie Spice

Pumpkin spice is the darling of fall, and for good reason! The mix of warm spices is so good together. Of course they are perfect with pumpkin, but you can also use this homemade spice mix anywhere you would use cinnamon but want something a little more.

There is no reason to put pumpkin pie spice on your grocery list this year. You can make your own instead.

Not only do you probably already have the ingredients, but it will only take a minute or two to make. Once you know the base recipe, you can adjust it to match your own taste preferences.

Then you can always have fresh pumpkin pie spice on hand for all of your baking and coffee spicing needs!

Tips for the Best Pumpkin Spice Mix

  • Store in a sealed container in a cool dry place like the pantry. Keep for up to 2 months.
  • If you like cinnamon to not be as bold in the mixture, simply reduce it until you find the right ratio to fit your preferences.
  • Use quality spices for this recipe in order to get the best outcome. Cheaper spices tend to be lacking in flavor. This results in a weak spice mixture.
  • You can easily double this recipe, or increase it as much as needed.
  • If you don’t like cloves, you can leave them out or cut the amount in half.

Recipes Using Pumpkin Spice

Of course you can use your pumpkin pie spice to make pumpkin pie. We love condensed milk pumpkin pie but maple pumpkin pie is also fabulous.

But don’t stop at pies! Make your own pumpkin spice creamer for your morning coffee or start the day with a pumpkin spice cinnamon roll cake.

I love this recipe. Ceylon cinnamon is the type I use and it’s not in the premade spice blends

    1. That’s one of the best parts about making your own blends, you get to really let your own preferences be your guide!
