Crockpot brats are a perfectly busy day dinner entree. Put one on a bun and pile it up with the peppers and onions for a tasty and easy meal.

Using a slow cooker allows you to prep your brats and veggies in advance and they will be ready when it is time to eat. This super simple recipe makes getting a flavorful supper on the table really easy.

We are heading into a busy time of year. As the weather warms up so do outdoor activities.

Add that to the end of the school year hubbub and work craziness and the schedule starts to feel overwhelming. So I like to have some easy dinner recipes on deck so we can still eat a tasty home-cooked meal without a lot of stress.

The bratwursts cook with peppers, onions, beer, butter and a little extra garlic to make them just burst with flavor. The brats stay juicy and the veggies get nice and tender.

You can even prep everything the night before if you want. Then all you have to do is slap it in the crockpot and turn it on.

Put a brat and some of the peppers and onions on a bun and add a drizzle of mustard if you want. If you want to take it to the next level, you can butter and toast the buns.

That is absolutely not necessary though. It is perfectly acceptable to just put everything on a bun straight from the bag.

If you like having grill marks on your brats, you can put them on the grill for a minute or two. They will already be cooked through, so you it won’t take long to finish them off.

I don’t have beer. Never buy it. Is there a substitute for beer in this recipe?

    1. You could use stock or broth instead. Chicken stock would be great, though beef would be good too. You could also use water in a pinch.

  2. I love brats cooked in beer with peppers. Great recipe!!

    1. It makes it so easy! You can still finish them on the grill if you want, but it’s not necessary!
