This chocolate crazy cake cupcakes recipe is based on our all time favorite chocolate cake. The batter is so simple to put together and the cupcakes are chocolaty and moist. These are going to become your favorite easy to make chocolate cupcakes!

Crazy cake chocolate cupcakes are super simple to make, if you have a whisk and a mixing bowl you can do it. There are no eggs and no butter, just pantry staples. The cupcakes are also soft, full of chocolate flavor, and devilishly good.
Truthfully, this cupcake recipe is hardly new to the blog. In fact, it is just a slight spin on an old favorite, the chocolate depression cake.

I have used that recipe as the base for so many different chocolate cake recipes here, so you would think I might grown tired of it. You would think wrong!
The thing is, when you have something that is perfect already there is no need to keep looking for something else. This chocolate cake is THE chocolate cake for our family.

Some chocolate cakes can feel dry or bland, not this one. It is perfect every time.

Why You’ll Love This Chocolate Cupcake Recipe
It is made from shelf stable pantry staples. You can always have the ingredients on hand.
The batter uses oil instead of butter. So, you don’t have to wait for it to soften. You can start baking whenever the feeling strikes.

In addition to that convenience, it also means you don’t have to cream any butter. So, you can make the batter with just a spatula or whisk. You don’t have to drag out a mixer.
Chocolate cakes and cupcakes have the tendency to be a little bit dry. Not these cupcakes. They are super moist and still have rich chocolate flavor.
