One pot American goulash is a simple meal that features ground beef and macaroni cooked in a flavorful tomato sauce. It is a great dinner option for busy night and your whole family will love it.

If you are looking for an easy weeknight meal where the whole thing cooks in one pot, this goulash recipe is for you. It is easy to make, but still really tasty.
Unlike Hungarian goulash, which is a stew made from chunks of meat, American goulash generally features ground beef and macaroni noodles in a tomato sauce.
Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- It is family friendly. Most everyone loves pasta!
- It is budget friendly. You can make it even more economical by reducing the ground beef to 1 pound. Or you can stretch it by adding more macaroni and water.
- It is clean-up friendly. There is just one pot to wash!

There are just about as many ways to make it as there are people who enjoy it. This recipe gives you great flavor without a lot of ingredients thanks to the marinara sauce.

What you compare this recipe might depend on how old you are. If you are of a certain age, goulash might have been a popular cafeteria lunch at school.

Picture a bowl of hot goulash with a piece of buttered bread and your carton of milk. Not a bad way to fill your belly!
My husband thinks it is like Beefaroni, but better. I suppose I can see that resemblance too.
