These cute Tom the Turkey cupcakes are easy to make and delicious too. The kids will love to help make them and your Thanksgiving dessert table will be that much cuter!

Cute and easy describes most of my favorite holiday desserts and these fun Tom the Turkey cupcakes fit the bill! Your Thanksgiving dessert table just got a lot more fun and it’s a perfect project to let the kids help.
I know Thanksgiving is all about the pie for most folks and don’t worry, I plan on having plenty of pie too. But in the end… my heart belongs to cake (and frosting!)
Which team are you on? #teampie or #teamcake?

I feel like both are winners, but cake has a slight edge. Probably due to two main reasons.
1. Frosting
2. I really struggle to make pretty pies.
I actually have some fabulous pie ideas for you this Thanksgiving, like maple pumpkin pie. Oooh, and cinnamon streusel carrot pie or honey maple pecan pie or pumpkin slab pie or tart cherry pie… the list goes on.
But I really think you should consider cupcakes too! Little Dude and I had a blast making these turkeys and they turned out so cute.
I can see them dressing up your dessert table. Or one would look super cute at each place setting on the table as well.

Maybe you use them as an edible craft to keep little hands busy while they wait for the big meal. Or keep them moving while everyone else is doing dishes and watching football.
We made ours with a batch of devilishly good chocolate cupcakes and some silky smooth fudge frosting. The taste was amazing together!
You could certainly use a box mix if you prefer, but I promise you that recipe is almost as easy and from scratch!

A little schmear of frosting would do the job, but I find piping it on is almost faster. It doesn’t need to be fancy or perfect. Then just a few little candy eye balls and candy corn complete the look.
Little Dude had fun trying a variety of different placement ideas for the tail feathers. He also had a little quip about the personality of each bird as he decorated them.
Of course they were a hit at family dinner, but we were careful not to show the real turkeys outside! I’m not sure the real Tom would have appreciated us eating his namesake. 😉🦃
