Prep: 2 minutes
Cook: 0 minutes
Total: 2 minutes

Ingredients

Beef Gravy Mix

  • cup all-purpose flour
  • cup beef bouillon powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper

To Make The Gravy

  • 2 Tablespoons gravy mix
  • 2 Tablespoons butter or pan drippings
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

Make The Mix

  • In a small bowl, combine all ingredients and mix well.
1½ cup all-purpose flour, ⅓ cup beef bouillon powder, 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • Store in a spice bottle, mason jar, or other sealed container, in the pantry, for up to 6 months. Store in a well sealed container in the freezer for up to a year.

Make The Gravy

  • Melt the butter (or other fat) in a small saucepan over medium heat.
    2 Tablespoons butter
  • Add the gravy mix to the melted butter and stir constantly until the mix has absorbed all the melted fat. Cook for about 1 minute longer, continuing to stir, to cook off the flour flavor.
    2 Tablespoons gravy mix
  • Slowly add in about a third of the water, then pause and whisk to combine the mixture before slowly adding the rest of the water.
    1 cup water
  • Constantly stir until the mixture starts to bubble and thicken. (I remove it from the heat once it lightly coats the back of a spoon).
  • Taste the gravy and add more seasoning if you want to.
  • The gravy will continue to thicken as it cools. Use immediately or store in an airtight container, in the fridge, for up to 3 days.
