Brown Gravy Mix is super easy to make at home and only takes a couple of simple ingredients! This mix only takes butter, water, and 5 minutes to create a flavorful dinner gravy.
In a small bowl, combine all ingredients and mix well.
Store in a spice bottle, mason jar, or other sealed container, in the pantry, for up to 6 months. Store in a well sealed container in the freezer for up to a year.
Make The Gravy
Melt the butter (or other fat) in a small saucepan over medium heat.
Add the gravy mix to the melted butter and stir constantly until the mix has absorbed all the melted fat. Cook for about 1 minute longer, continuing to stir, to cook off the flour flavor.
Slowly add in about a third of the water, then pause and whisk to combine the mixture before slowly adding the rest of the water.
Constantly stir until the mixture starts to bubble and thicken. (I remove it from the heat once it lightly coats the back of a spoon).
Taste the gravy and add more seasoning if you want to.
The gravy will continue to thicken as it cools. Use immediately or store in an airtight container, in the fridge, for up to 3 days.
