We have been on a lemonade making tear this summer. We started with blackberry lemonade and that reminded us how much we like homemade lemonade.
Then we whipped up some homemade pink lemonade and it was every bit as good as we hoped it would be. They are both fun twists on the classic that are a perfect way to chill a bit on a hot summer day.

We were tempted to whip up another batch, but we wanted to do something different. So cherry limeade seemed like the perfect thing.
There is no longer a Sonic in our town, so it would be a great way to get that classic combo in a homemade beverage. Of course it is totally possible and really fun to make. Now if only we could get that ice at home!
Tips and Tricks
Squeezing limes will result in the best flavor, but a bottle of lime juice will work in a pinch. Use whichever you happen to have.
Dissolving the sugar in the water is pretty quick and easy. Just make sure the it is completely dissolved for the best experience.

Feel free to toss in slices of lime, more cherries or even bits of chopped cherries. Do whatever makes you happy!

Cherry Limeade
Equipment
Ingredients
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups water
- ½ cup lime juice 4-5 limes
- 8 Maraschino cherries and a few Tablespoons of juice
Instructions
- Put sugar and water into a saucepan over medium heat. Warm until all of the sugar is dissolved, then remove from the heat and allow to cool.
- Juice limes.
- Fill a half gallon pitcher about half full with ice. Add sugar water and lime juice.
- Toss in a few maraschino cherries and a few Tablespoons of juice from the jar. Add water to taste and enjoy!
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to a week.
