Summer and lemonade are a match made in heaven.  While the powdered mix makes a decent cup, a pitcher of fresh squeezed lemonade cannot be topped.

One of the fun parts is homemade lemonade is such an easy thing to put a spin on. We have made honey sweetened lemonade, frosted lemonade, lemon shakeups, and blackberry lemonade as well.

So Little Dude and I thought it would be fun to whip up another refreshing lemon beverage. This one uses the obvious ingredients of lemon juice and simple syrup and adds just a hint of grenadine.

The grenadine adds color of course and just a bit of sweet fruity flavor. So it gets that pretty pink hue and just enough of a different taste that it is obviously lemonade but with that little something extra.

In a blindfolded taste test the lemon would be very obvious. You would likely pick up on the fact there is something else there, but nothing pronounced enough to name.

Squeezing lemons will result in the best flavor, but a bottle of lemon juice will work in a pinch. Use whichever you happen to have.

Dissolving the sugar in the water is pretty quick and easy. Just make sure the it is completely dissolved for the best experience.

  1. Sometimes lemonade is just too tart for me, but I like the idea of using Grenadine Syrup. I think that that should cut the tartness enough for me to enjoy the lemonade. Thank you for sharing.
