Homemade orange marmalade is so simple to make. This 5 ingredient recipe is just bursting with citrus flavor. Use it as a spread like jam, or use it as an ingredient in other recipes. Either way, making your own gives you the best orange flavor!

If you aren’t familiar with orange marmalade, it is basically an orange jam. It is really fruity and delicious.

This recipe is really simple to make. You use the whole orange, rind and all.

So, make sure you wash them good before you use them. Otherwise, just cut them into chunks and let the food processor take it from there.

Because oranges are high in pectin, you don’t need to add any. Just let it do its thing and you will have a perfectly spreadable marmalade in no time.

Just like we do when making peach habanero jam, you can put a little dollop on a frozen plate to test the consistency. If it is still runny, cook it a little bit longer.

Once you get it to your desired consistency, just transfer it to jars and you are good to go. I don’t can, so I just store some in the fridge and freeze the rest.

However, you can process in water bath canner for 10 minutes. Canned marmalade can be stored in a cool dry place for 6-10 months. Once opened, the marmalade should be kept in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

Don’t worry though, it will be easy to use up. You can put some on buttery biscuits or toast, or use it for recipes like orange chicken.

  • Spoon into clean jars and put lids on.
  • Let sit on the counter until it reaches room temperature. Retighten lids.
  • Place in the fridge overnight. Enjoy!

Notes

Homemade marmalade can be stored in the fridge for a couple of weeks or frozen for several months.
Try to avoid oranges with a really thick pith as it may give a bitter aftertaste.
If your marmalade is too thick, you can put it in a saucepan over medium heat and stir in a little bit of water to get it to the consistency you want.
