Come home to a creamy comforting dinner.  This chicken and gravy cooks in the slow cooker while you do whatever you want.

Walking into the house and having it smell delicious is always a great feeling. Just a few quick steps and dinner is ready!

Pile it on buns for sandwiches, or serve it on rice, pasta or mashed potatoes. It’s good on any of them!

I really try to vary what we eat for our weekly family dinner.  With the weather warming up a bit I thought I would make one last slow cooker full of comfort food before we get the grill out.

Nothing says comfort food like gravy and biscuits.

When I came across this recipe for chicken and gravy.  I also made a recipe for buttery sour cream biscuits that I thought would be great underneath.

Silly as it may sound, not everyone in our family loves biscuits, so I made some noodles to go along with it as well.

The chicken and gravy is really good.   I’m sure I will be making it again.

Kristie has already requested the recipe, so I know this will be made by her also.  She said it’s even better reheated the next day.

MiMi made this for the blog back in 2015.  It was a hit with the family then and has been made quite a few times since then.

It was good on the biscuits and on the noodles. We have served it on buns as a sandwich and on a slice of white bread as an opened faced sandwich.

My favorite way to serve it though, is on mashed potatoes!

We like this recipe so much that we made it to serve on buns for my cousin’s bun in the oven baby shower. It is definitely a simple recipe to make and a great recipe for an event like that because the prep work can be done ahead and it keeps warm well in the slow cooker for the party!

So now the only question is, do you eat the corn on the side or mix it all in?!

Sweet, salty and umami collide in slow cooker sesame chicken. Serve it over rice for a flavorful weeknight meal.

Make a delicious Mexican inspired meal while you do other things. Salsa chicken is so full of flavor and makes the best burrito bowls.

For a change of pace, fill pita pockets with Greek chicken flavored with yogurt and oregano. It is tender and makes a great sandwich.

Has anyone made the chicken ahead of time and froze it? How did it turn out? Any freezing tips?

@Carlee, it was perfect and delicious!!!!

@Carlee, so great! That was my thought too. I will try to freeze it and post how it turns out. My sister sent me this recipe severa months back and now it’s a family favorite! I want to make it ahead of time to take to our Airbnb on the beach with friends!

I haven't tried freezing it, but I think it would do ok. The only thing may be that the sour cream might curdle a bit. You could either wait to add it until after it is defrosted. Or if you don't care about the look, it would still taste good even if it curdles a bit.

My husband could not get over how tasty this meal was. He was asking when we can have it again before he was even finished his dinner. A beautiful and simply meal.

There is nothing like good old meat and gravy, whether you have it with potatoes, biscuits, or noodles. This dish sounds so good and I like that you used your slow cooker. Sometimes I just want some good old fashioned food!

Comforting, warm, filling and delicious... it doesn't get much better!

Hi Carlee, cooking is obviously in your family genes. My husband would love this on mash! Serving a meal on biscuits sounds strange to me, but I'm guessing they aren't the kind of biscuits I'm thinking of.

Our biscuits are fluffy and buttery and have a neutral flavor (mostly flour/butter or cream) so they can be served sweet or savory. I am assuming what you are thinking of might be more like what we call a cookie =)
