It is hard to beat this yummy three ingredient hot fudge sauce recipe. It takes chocolate chips, condensed milk, and a bit of butter and turns them into a rich and wonderful fudgy sauce in about one minute. It is perfect for drizzling over ice cream and more.

I am telling you, this hot fudge sauce is hard to beat. If you can put three ingredients in a bowl, microwave them for a bit, and give it a stir; then you can make it!
I think there are two kinds of people when it comes to topping your ice cream with chocolate. My husband is a chocolate sauce person, I am a hot fudge person all of the way.
To me, there is no comparison. Growing up, I usually my aunt’s hot fudge sauce recipe. It is a 4 ingredient recipe that uses sugar, cocoa powder, butter, and milk.
It is fabulous, but it does take about 8 minutes to make. So, if you find yourself in a hot fudge emergency this recipe will let you have hot fudge in closer to 2 minutes!! 😁
Really, I think it is pretty handy to have options anyway. That way you can decide based on your mood or the ingredients you happen to have on hand.

We ate this hot fudge drizzled over some vanilla half and half ice cream. It was wonderful.
We also ate some with ice cream and crockpot chocolate cobbler for a super chocolaty Valentine’s Day treat. In that case, the hot fudge was kind of unnecessary but nobody complained.

I like to make this sauce in a bowl so that it is easy to store. After that, I transfer it to a glass pint jar for storage.

Like most hot fudge sauces, it will get quite thick in the refrigerator. Having it in a glass jar makes it easy to warm up when you are ready for more.
I like using semi-sweet chocolate for this recipe. It give rich chocolate flavor and helps cut the sweetness of the sweetened condensed milk.
Feel free to try it with dark chocolate or whatever chocolate you like best. It would also be fun to try using butterscotch chips or peanut butter chips for something different.

While making ice cream sundaes is a fabulous way to use fudge sauce, there are other great uses. We also like drizzling it over bundt cakes, peanut butter pie, and more!
I think once you see how easy and delicious this sauce is, you will find plenty of excuses to make it. So, go ahead and make some now!

3 Ingredient Hot Fudge Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 3 Tablespoons butter
Instructions
- Put 1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk, 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips and 3 Tablespoons butter into a medium microwave safe bowl.
- Microwave on high in 30-second intervals, stirring after each trip to the microwave, until everything has melted and the sauce is smooth.
Notes
- This recipe makes about 2 cups of hot fudge, so you will likely have some left. Store it in an airtight container, I like using small glass jars, in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Warm it up in the microwave or over low heat on the stove before using.
- If you don’t want to use a microwave, you can also make this hot fudge sauce in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir frequently until everything is melted and smooth.

Your recipes are wonderful. I have used some of them with such success. I am not the greatest cook, as I was never in my mother’s kitchen, having 3 older sisters. It wasn’t by choice. Now I am enjoying it so much, thanks to you. I even made a recipe book with your ideas/recipes.
Than you so much.

I am glad you are enjoying cooking now. It would be hard to get space in the kitchen with 3 older sisters around. Luckily it is never too late to start!
There is absolutely no better way to eat ice cream than with some of this. It is easy and tasty so I highly recommend.
I agree! Thank you
