What is Kielbasa?

Kielbasa is one of the types of Polish sausage. Fresh Polish sausage is a pork sausage made with salt, pepper, marjoram and garlic.

My mother-in-law has a strong Polish heritage and she loves fresh homemade sausage. We have plans to get together and make some, so hopefully I can share the recipe with you soon.

If you don’t have a Polish immigrants for family, you may have to travel to a city with a large Polish population to get the fresh sausage. Hopefully I will be sharing more Polska kielbasa recipes with you soon.

In American grocery stores, the term Kielbasa usually refers to a sausage that has been cured and smoked. It can be pan fried, simmered, grilled or added to a great variety of recipes.
