This creamy slow cooker rice pudding has the goodness of sweetened condensed milk and cinnamon cooked inside. It is slightly caramelized, really comforting and so easy to make.

If you are looking for a simple comfort food dessert, this rice pudding is it. It turns simple ingredients into something delicious.
I love adding cinnamon and raisins to my rice pudding, it just feels classic which is what I am going for when I make it. However you can omit either or both.

Or use dried cranberries or cherries instead of raisins if you prefer. Or toss is dried blueberries and use lemon zest instead of cinnamon for a brighter flavor profile.
Making Crockpot Rice Pudding
If you can measure, dump and stir you can make this recipe. It turns uncooked rice into a delicious pudding with almost now work thanks to the help of a crockpot.
Start by greasing the crockpot. This will make cleanup easier later.
Use whatever white rice you have on hand. I have used everything from a short grain arborio rice to a long grain jasmine rice.
They all work great. As the rice cooks in the milk, it gives off starches that help to thicken the extra liquid into a pudding consistency.

The sweetened condensed milk adds all of the sugar you need for the recipe. Plus it adds a bit of richness that makes it extra special.
It almost caramelizes a bit as it cooks. I think it adds such great depth and deliciousness.

Then just add some whole milk, cinnamon, and a splash of vanilla. A handful of raisins is good too, cooking them in softens them up and adds more sweetness to the mix.
Stir it all together and put the crockpot on high. Every slow cooker is a bit different, but it should be done after about two and a half hours.

Give it a stir and check the doneness of your rice. If it needs a little more time check it again in about a half an hour.
If it goes too long, the rice may absorb more liquid than intended. Just stir in a little bit more milk if it needs loosened back up.
I like serving my rice pudding warm with a tiny bit of grated nutmeg on top. You can also enjoy it chilled if that is your preference.
Storage
Any leftover rice pudding can be stored in the refrigerator for up to four days. If you want to enjoy the leftovers warm just add a splash of milk and heat it in the microwave until it is heated through.

Can I use aborio rice with this recipe? If so, would it be the same measurement?
Thank you!
Yes, you can. I started making it with arborio but switched to long grain because I always have it on hand. The arborio works great without any adjustments.
Great! Thank you! 😊
I wish I could add a photo because it was so good!! It took my slow cooker 3.5 hours to make a double batch in a 7 qt slow cooker on high. The only difference i made to the recipe was I added 2 pumps of torani liquid vanilla syrup into the milk mixture prior to cooking (just for some added sweetness) and the rest of the recipe exactly. I used thai jasmine rice, which just added to the sweet aromatics that filled the house. Oh.my.goodness sooooo so delicious. Thank you for sharing!
YAY! I am so glad that you liked it. A couple of pumps of vanilla syrup is an excellent addition.
Hello 👋 New here and soooo excited for this rice pudding. Ive had it on high for 2 hours so far and it looks the same as when I started it. I doubled the recipe for a 7 quart slow cooker. Im going to keep it going and update with my personal cooking times for a double batch but I was curious, in your experience, does it usually take longer for double even in a larger slow cooker?
I am sure the rice is cooking under there. Once you give it a stir, it may look different. Doubling the ingredients will take it longer to warm up though, so I would definitely add at least 30 minutes to the cook time. I am interested to hear what you found out.
I just made this and followed the recipe exactly, one of the most bland tasteless recipes and obviously never even tested. I would suggest grab a handful of dry rice and put it right in your mouth and that is what this tastes like. Needs sugar not even a lot just some!!!
There is quite a bit of sugar in sweetened condensed milk. I am wondering if you might have accidentally used a can of evaporated milk instead? Either way, if stir in some sugar and probably a splash of milk or water, you can probably get where you are trying to go.
Wow, how rude you are. Don’t like it, add what you think it needs!
I followed the recipe and made this tonight May 1 2024.
So simple to make and cooked in 2 1/2 hours.
Very creamy and delicious and will make again for sure.
Thanks for this!!
I am so glad you liked it!
My first time making rice pudding. It’s delicious. Just have a question, how do you know when it’s done. How much liquid should you see?
Most of the liquid will be absorbed and what is left should be thick enough to coat the back of a spoon. It will thicken a bit more as it cools, but should still be recognizable as a pudding texture.
So I am slow cooking my first time making rice pudding with ingredients I thought sounds yummy good?! Oh my goodness!! So I think I have about 2 hrs. left on making this recipe I put together. Using :
La La her a Condensed Milk
A can Evaporated milk
Water
I used Instant rice with this. Makes things easier for me. Although, next time I’m getting the grain rice I’m use to..
Fresh ground cinnamon
Vanilla
I didn’t know condensed milk has vanilla in it. Taste So creamy good! Especially after I used my mini hand blender on the top only, cuz its too small. But I’m going to probably cook for 1 hr, instead of 2 hrs. Because, it’s instant rice I only had. So, I know it’s going to be oh so good! The first time I used coconut milk w/o condensed milk. It was a whatever I had on hand rice pudding kol. Oh.. This will be good. Thank you Gypsy KK💙🇨🇦✌
Sounds like it should be delicious!
Love using my slow cooker to make rice pudding. Only had long grain rice in my pantry and it turned out just as delicious. I stir in half spices and vanilla extract at the end. Nothing’s easier. Thanks for sharing
I am so glad you like it. I need to make it with long grain rice sometime, I always have it on hand and only sometimes have arborio.
@Carlee, I have made a version of this and it’s amazing! I’ve also added white chocolate chips to melt in at the beginning of cooking! Then I make a quick berry sauce! It’s amazing!
White chocolate and berries sound amazing! What a tasty idea!
I followed the instructions and it came out so delicious!
Oooh I get this is so yummy. Anything with sweetened condensed milk has me drooling! YUM!!
You’ll love how easy it is to make too!
