This fun red white and blue stained glass Jello is perfect for patriotic summer holidays like Memorial Day and the Fourth of July. However you can mix and match the colors to make it perfect for any holiday or event.

Stained or broken glass Jello is such a fun and striking dessert. It is the ultimate in no bake and make ahead recipes with that vintage vibe.
That nostalgic vibe is part of what makes it so cool. This red, white and blue version has that berries and cream taste in a fun jiggly package.
It is perfect for summer potlucks and bbqs. Plus it is sure to put smiles on the faces of kids and kids at heart.
Prepping Your Jello
The process for making stained glass jello is super simple, but it does take a little time to let everything set fully. So be prepared to start a day or two in advance if you can.
It is as easy as making a batch of red jello, feel free to use your favorite flavor. Cherry, raspberry or strawberry gelatin would all be amazing.

Make another batch of blue gelatin in a second pan. Let both set up completely, at least a few hours.
Now cut that jello into little cubes and scatter them on the bottom of a larger pan. The cubes don’t have to be perfect, just get lots of small bits that will show through the white Jello later.
To make the white layer that holds it all together you get to reach for a can of one of our favorite ingredients, good old sweetened condensed milk! Just stir in some dissolved plain gelatin and pour it over your colorful cubes.

Give it a few more hours in the refrigerator to set up. Then it will be ready to cut into shapes or cubes.
It’s really that simple, so give it a go!
Can I make broken glass Jello in a mold?
Yes, you can make this recipe in a mold if you prefer. Just make sure you give it plenty of time to set before you try to unmold it. Allow for at least 4 hours in the refrigerator, but overnight is even better.
Tips and Tricks
Do not follow the instructions on the box when making your Jello. You need to use a reduced amount of water with the gelatin so they are sturdy enough to hold up in this recipe.

If you are in a hurry, use shallow dishes for setting up your Jello. The thicker the Jello mixture is, the longer it will take to set in the refrigerator.
Instead of using red and blue Jello, you can use cherry and lime Jello for Christmas broken glass Jello. Or try grape, orange, and lime for Halloween.

- Cut up jello into cubes. Scatter cubes of red and blue jello in 9×13 pan.
- In a separate large bowl, sprinkle unflavored gelatin into ½ cup cold water and allow to sit for 5 minutes. After the gelatin blooms (it will look mostly dissolved and get wrinkly on the surface), add 1½ cups boiling water and stir to dissolve.2 envelopes unflavored gelatin

- Pour the cooled sweeten condensed milk mixture over the red and blue jello blocks in the baking dish. Chill overnight.
- If desired, cut with star cookie cutters. I like to use the medium cutter as it works best with a spatula to help scoop out the star.
