Make white chocolate macadamia nut cookie mix in a jar to keep in your pantry for later or make them for gifts. Either way, delicious cookies are in the future.
If desired, roughly chop the ¾ cup macadamia nuts and put in the bottom of the quart jar.
Layer the 1 cup white chocolate chips, ½ cup light brown sugar, and ⅓ cup granulated sugar on top of the nuts. Even out the layers a bit as you go to keep them all visible and looking nice in the jar.
In a small bowl, stir together the 1¼ cups all-purpose flour, ⅛ teaspoon salt, ½ teaspoon baking soda, and ½ teaspoon baking powder. Layer on top of the other ingredients in the jar.
Place the lid on the jar and tie a tag onto the jar with the baking instructions.
This cookie mix can be kept in the pantry for a few months. Or freeze the jar of mix for up to a year.
To Make The Cookies
Beat the ½ cup softened butter, 1 large egg, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract together in a medium bowl.
Add the jar of mix and stir until you have a uniform dough.
For best results, chill the dough for at least 30 minutes, up to 2 days.
Preheat the oven to 350℉ and line cookie sheets with either parchment paper or silicone mats.
Place 1 Tablespoon scoops of dough (or a small cookie scoop) about 2 inches apart on a cookie sheet. Bake for about 8-10 minutes.
Cool on the cookie sheet for a couple of minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Feel free to experiment with different kinds of nuts or different kinds of chocolate chips.
