This delicious dessert recipe is as easy as can be to make. It has all of the flavor of a classic banana cream pie, but only takes a few minutes to put together. The fact that it is so easy makes it one of the best banana cream pie recipes there is!
Pour 2 cups heavy whipping cream, 2 Tablespoons granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract into a medium bowl and beat on high speed until medium to stiff peaks form. Set aside.
In a large bowl, whisk together 1 cup cold milk, ½ teaspoon vanilla extract and 3.4 ounce vanilla instant pudding mix until smooth and thick. Fold in 3 cups of your whipping cream.
Spoon half of pie filling mixture into 9 inch graham cracker crust. Layer with slices from 2 medium bananas then another layer of the pudding mixture. Top with second pudding layer remaining whipped cream and refrigerate until ready to serve.
If desired, garnish with fresh banana slices right before serving.
Refrigerate any leftover pie.
Notes
Bananas oxidize when exposed to the air. To keep them from turning mushy and brown, you can either wait until you are ready to serve to garnish the top of the pie with bananas. If you want to prep it ahead of time, lightly spray the sliced banana with lemon juice or lime juice. It works in a similar way as it does with apple slices.
