ground pork

small head cabbage
about 5 cups shredded

small onion

chow mein noodles

ground ginger

light brown sugar

soy sauce

hoisin sauce

red pepper flakes

Instructions
Thinly slice the onion and shred the cabbage into thin ribbons.
Using a wok or large skillet/sauté pan (4 quarts or larger), brown the ground pork over medium heat until cooked through.
Add the cabbage and onion. Continue to cook, stirring occasionally, until both soften and cook down.
While the vegetables are cooking, bring some salted water to a boil. Cook the chow mein noodles according to the package directions.
In a small bowl, stir together the garlic, ginger, water, soy sauce, brown sugar, hoisin sauce, and corn starch. Add red pepper flakes if desired.
When the onions are translucent and the cabbage is soft, stir in the sauce mixture. Cook until it begins to bubble and thicken.
Add the drained noodles and stir to coat. Continue to cook until most of the sauce is absorbed.
Serve and enjoy.
