If you like chocolate lava cake, you are going to love this crockpot chocolate cobbler recipe. The texture and flavor are similar, but this cobbler is so much easier to make. Be sure to have some ice cream nearby to really make it shine!
Combine 3 cups all-purpose flour, 6 Tablespoons cocoa powder, 1½ cups granulated sugar, and 1 Tablespoon baking powder in a 6 quart crockpot.
Add the 3 cups boiling water, 1 cup whole milk, ½ cup salted butter (melted), and 2 teaspoons vanilla extract. Stir to combine.
In a mixing bowl, combine 1½ cups granulated sugar with ½ cup cocoa powder. Mix well.
Take the mixture and evenly sprinkle it over the top of the ingredients in the crockpot. Do not stir.
Cook on high for 3-4 hours, or until the top has set up.
Serve with a scoop of ice cream, if desired.
Notes
While chocolate cobbler is best served fresh, leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. Warm for about 30 seconds in the microwave to get it good and gooey again before enjoying.
You can use coffee instead of water if you like mocha desserts.
Feel free to stir in some chopped nuts, or toffee bits if you would like.
