This Christmas tree cake ice cream is festive and delicious. Bits of Little Debbie Christmas tree snack cakes and a ribbon of buttercream are nestled in creamy homemade vanilla ice cream. This might just become your new favorite holiday treat.
Chop the Christmas tree cakes into small cubes. Freeze while you make the ice cream.
Whisk together the milk and sugar until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Stir in the vanilla and a pinch of salt.
Mix in heavy cream until well combined.
Pour into ice cream machine and churn according to the machine's directions.
While the ice cream is churning, make the marshmallow fluff frosting.
In a medium mixing bowl, cream the butter until it is light and fluffy.
Add in the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and marshmallow fluff and mix on low until incorporated. Turn the mixer to medium speed and beat until fluffy.
If desired, add a few drops of red food coloring to dye the frosting. Load into a small piping bag or sandwich bag.
When the ice cream is frozen, stir in about half of the frozen snack cake bites.
Layer half of the ice cream in a freezer safe container. Top with a sprinkling of the Christmas tree bits. Then pipe a swirl of the frosting over the cake.
Repeat the layers and finish with some green sanding sugar if desired. Freeze until set and scoopable, about 3 hours.
