This Texas style smoked turkey breast is a delicious and peppery option for your holiday table. Of course, anytime of year would be perfect for this juicy recipe. Tender and moist, this recipe will have everyone asking for more and it makes the best sandwiches too!
Mix the seasonings together and sprinkle over the turkey breast, being sure to get both sides.
Place on the smoker and cook for about 1½ hours or until the turkey hits an internal temperature of 150℉.
Remove breast and place it in a foil boat. Coat with melted butter and wrap tightly.
Continue to cook for 15 minutes or until the internal temp reaches 160℉, then remove and rest for 15 minutes.
Slice and serve.
Notes
If your turkey comes already brined, cut the amount of salt in half.
Using 2 pieces of foil to wrap the turkey breast helps to ensure that no butter leaks out.
For the best presentation, place the smooth side of the turkey down when wrapping in foil and place it back in the smoker in the same way.
This recipe was developed on a pellet smoker, but also works on an offset smoker, or even a conventional oven. Nothing about the recipe needs to be changed, including temperatures.
Oak is a great choice of wood for this recipe, but fruit woods like apple and cherry are also good.
