Add the mascarpone and mix on medium speed for about 2 minutes.
Add the powdered sugar and vanilla. Beat for another 1-2 minutes.

Notes
This recipe makes plenty of frosting of a 9x13-inch cake. It is also enough for a thin layer on a standard 8-9 inch layer cake. Consider making 1.5-2x the recipe if you want a thicker layer of frosting on the layer cake or want to be able to pipe on extra flourishes.
