S.O.S. also known as creamed beef on toast is an old-school meal. This classic recipe was made popular by military families years ago, but is still a nostalgic favorite today. Chipped beef on toast with peas is a perfect meal for busy nights, or for when you need to stretch a dollar.
Melt 2 Tablespoons butter in a skillet. Stir in 2 Tablespoons all purpose flour and cook for a minute or two
Whisk in 1 cup milk until smooth. Cook over medium low heat until it starts to thicken
Stir in ½ cup frozen peas and 1 small package chipped beef and cook until just warm. Adjust salt and pepper to taste.
Serve over 4 slices toast
Notes
You can use browned ground beef instead of chipped beef if you prefer. We also really like to chop up roast beef lunch meat. Pretty much anything goes!
