Chocolate chip cake mix bars are simple but delicious. Their texture is almost a cross between a cookie and cake. They are a lovely way to satisfy your sweet tooth.
Preheat the oven to 350℉. Spray a 9x13-inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray and set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, combine all the ingredients except the chocolate chips and mix until no lumps appear.
Fold in the chocolate chips.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
Sprinkle a few chocolate chips over the top and bake for 24 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out just barely gooey. You don't want them to be 100% finished as they will continue to cook once pulled out of the oven.
Cool in the pan for 20-30 minutes. If sliced before they’ve cooled, they have a tendency to fall apart.
Once cool, slice the bars, serve, and enjoy!
Notes
Once you’ve added the chocolate chips, it’s important you do not use the mixer in the batter. You want to fold those into the batter using a rubber spatula. If you bake these in a smaller pan, they will turn out thicker, but you’ll need to lower the oven to 325℉ and bake them for about 10 minutes longer. If you use too many chocolate chips, these will fall apart, even if you let them rest. Although they will be so very gooey and awesome, they will be a mess. 😛The final texture is a little softer than cookies, but that’s part of what makes them so good.
