Red Hot Applesauce

Red Hot applesauce gets both it’s red color and a fun cinnamon flavor from candies. This twist on a vintage recipe is a fun way to turn fresh apples into a delicious and vibrant homemade applesauce.

Apples  Sugar  Water  Red Hots

This recipe is adapted from a cookbook my grandma had when she was a child.

Core and chop the apples. Place in a saucepan with the water.

Cover and cook until the apple are tender.

Process until smooth.

Stir in sugar and red hots. Cook until candies dissolve and applesauce is thick.

Cool and then transfer to a storage container. Store in the refrigerator.
